S&T FAQ’sHow can I start or cancel service or change my billing information?Shareholders of S&T Mutual Water Company have primary responsibility for water accountsand unpaid invoices. Water service begins for a new Shareholder (and ends for a formerShareholder) during the closing of escrow on a property sale, after the payment of a watercompany Stock Transfer fee has been paid to the water company. Shareholders of recordmay change their water company contact information by contacting S&T Mutual WaterCompany or by logging into their online account and making those changes themselves.Why can't I put the water account in my tenant's name?STMWC is not a public utility, rather, it is a non-profit mutual water company. In order topreserve our exclusive water rights, STMWC can only serve Shareholders of the company. Ifyou own property in Sunset Terrace, and you have a company stock share, you are aShareholder. A copy of the bill may be sent to the property manager or tenant. If you wouldlike a 3rd party to receive the invoice, you need to request a 3rd party billing form to be signedby the shareholder. In all cases, the shareholder is ultimately responsible for payment of allcharges.Why is my water bill so high?•Possible leak•Higher water usage•Landscape irrigation running frequently or too long•Dripping faucets/running toiletsIf you cannot determine a reason for your usage being higher than usual, call STMWC toopen a service request for a leak investigation. Our mailing address is PO Box 6391, Los Osos, CA 93412•Customers can also use their online banking system to have a payment sent directly from their bank account to S&T Mutual Water Company.What is the assessment charge on my water bill?This assessment of $10.00 per month maintains the assets of the Corporation. Link toresolution.The S&T Board of Directors passed Resolution 2016-3A at a public meeting held on 25February 2016 which added a $10 per month assessment on each metered water service.The purpose of this assessment is to increase the balance in the Capital Reserve Fund untilthat Fund balance reaches $300,000.How often do I get a bill?•STMWC bills every two months. The water company sends bills at the end of the following billing periods: January-February, March-April, May-June, July-August, September-October, and November-December.•Payment is due 30 days after receipt of the invoice. There is a $25.00 late fee.
